Spam calls to mobile phone

Within the last week (suspiciously also month 10 of a Carphone Warehouse contract), I've started receiving silent calls from 0800 955 5544 (08009555544) which according to this blog post belongs to a company called Landmark Telecommunications [ link ] - I'm not sure if this is correct, but a quick Google search of that name suggests they have a history of making unsolicited calls offering new contracts. What's frustrating is that such a business advertises that it "works in association" with the Welsh Assembly Government". Do they really want to be seen as endorsing such practice? Anyway, if someone knows how to get your number removed from their spam system please let me know!

Update records in MySQL

You can tell I'm doing lots of work at the moment due to all the blog posts (as wrong as that sounds!). Anyway, a note to myself here. I often want to update a load of records in MySQL, i.e. setting a field from "Yes" to "No" etc. For some reason everytime I try to remember the single line query I forget! Anyway here it is:

UPDATE glinks_Category SET Category_Template='' WHERE Category_Template='navcategory.html'

Obviously you will need to replace the table and field names but that's the structure. Always back up before doing anything. Use at your own risk.

IE blocking Messenger within Hotmail

One thing I've always (well within the last year or so) found annoying about Hotmail is that it launches an instance of MSN Messenger when you check your mails. Anyway, last night Microsoft pushed IE7 over auto-update and now when I login to Hotmail their Messenger application is blocked by IE7 and Microsoft is called an unverified publisher (*cough!*).

Dummy credit card for WorldPay

Originally found on at Fastcart, if you are testing a WorldPay set-up and need a dummy card for the test transactions then click Mastercard as your card and enter 5418590012345679 and then an expiry date in the future. Just put any address in the address fields. I've reposted this here for my own benefit really - in case Fastcart remove it or I forget where I found it!
